Whenever I leave town, there are many things I may bring along depending on where I am going and what will be available there, but there are only a select few that always make the cut! See below for some of my faves.
Philosophie Superfood Powders (travel size)
These are a no brainier! Great addition to smoothies you order, oatmeal, nut milk, salads etc etc etc. They especially come in handy during flying days to keep energy and immunity levels up. At the resort, I asked the room service to keep my fridge stocked with unsweetened almond milk for the duration of my trip so that I could shake up a quick post workout recovery shake every morning. I always add cinnamon and stevia, too.
DUH! It's my snack, ha! But really -- it makes for a great travel companion. I had some daily while away and especially on flying days. Anyone near my on the plane always looks envious of my Mary Poppins bottomless bag of goodies while they're eating their roasted peanuts.
Probiotics (capsules and Green Vibrance)
Gut health is always important, but this is especially true while traveling when our digestion slows down and our bodies are much more susceptible to catching things. Just think -- we are drinking and eating foods from different soils and coming in contact with new organisms.
Since this was a longer trip, I brought a bottle large enough for 15 days and packed it in my checked luggage. This also helps to keep things moving and our bodies regular when we are up against dehydration from flying and jet lag etc. I took a shot of it every night before bedtime.
This is hands down the best natural deodorant I have tried and it was really put to the test in the hot and humid Caribbean. I love the way it smells of lavender and is made with ingredients you can eat! It's organic, non-toxic, handmade and free of parabens, propylene glycol (derived from petroleum) and aluminum. I cannot stress enough how important natural deodorant is, as we absorb everything through our skin. The lymph nodes in the underarm are the first place breast cancer is likely to spread. Take action and make the switch!
Well, what can I say? She's pretty much my BFF. I have a sweet tooth, but I have to watch my sugar intake, as we all should. I find it best to carry some in my handbag at all times. Whether you're grabbing a smoothie, tea, coffee or cocktail, you never know when it could come in handy! While on vacation, it's especially useful in those fun cocktail drinks we all like to indulge in, but are so sugar laden they leave us feeling extra hungover. Simply ask the bartender to omit any sweeteners and add your own. Don't forget to throw the stevia into your night time bag if you've switched for the evening :)
I love the earthy taste of matcha, but what I love even more are its many health benefits. It's sort of like comparing a juice with a smoothie when you compare regular green tea with matcha. When you enjoy matcha, you're ingesting the whole leaf (like a smoothie with fiber), whereas when you have regular green tea, you're having extracts from the leaf, just like juicing. Matcha has a very high amount of antioxidants and natural energy that won't leave you feeling sluggish later. Super easy to travel with and add to steamed dairy free milk or water, add a little stevia and voila.
Traveling is dehydrating and this is especially true for our skin. That is why I am absolutely obsessed with the hydrating accelerator and serum. It's made with organic vitamin-infused aloe water, coconut and grape seed, green tea, hemp, almond and more. You first spritz your clean face with the accelerator and then apply the serum and it feels so refreshing and energizing.
